OCTOBER 21 2017

The SAPB had there Build'N'Fly II event on Sat. the October 21 2017. We had great weather and a real good turn out, with 23 registered pilots and a number of guest. We had hamburgers with all the trimming alone with Hot dogs. Kevin & His Wife brought baked sliced potato and fruit salad.

Notes from the events CD.

We had a WONDERFUL time with 23 registered attendees, many with wives and/or significant others and even a few non-flying spectators. And if you weren’t here you missed a great time! New “I’M A BUILDER” tags were included with entry furnished by Charles Strang and ‘Balsa Model Builders Association’ stickers From Bob Severance. Unfortunately we had some mishaps but above all that we had some great comradery and bonded friendships from fellow returning enthusiasts from Houston, Corpus Christi, Boerne, Universal City, Schertz & Helotes and faraway Bellingham, Washington State! Thank You Dave Gell for making a great trip south to visit and fly with us! Thanks to previous members Keith Moody (1/3 scale Balsa USA Fly Baby Bipe), Rick Carlo (Giant Scale Sportster) and Rick Corbell (Dream Machine) for their home visit. Want to also mention Mike Whitley who ventured down from Benbrook, TX and brought an beautiful scale model of what I believe was a large Scale Boeing-Stearman Biplane who put on several WOW demonstration flights with super smoke! To Include there were many examples of Vintage RC’s flown like the Top Flight Contender flown by Hilmer Merz and the beautiful Balsa USA Fokker Eindecker flown by George Wilson. With two examples of the Goldberg Tigers (Charles Strang & Bob Severance).Lunch was prepared by Ray Murry with his faithful helper Don Gray. Delicious! MANY good door prizes we handed out: Kits donated by Eddie Taylor @ Laser Works (www.LazerWorks.com) and myself, Discount Certificates from Sig (www.SigMfg.com) and Tower Hobbies (www.TowerHobbies.com) , many great tool and glue packages purchased from Hobby King (www.HobbyKing.com) . Thanks was expressed to all attendees and promised this event will be held again next year (Oct. 20, 2018, MARK YOUR CALENDAR!) and the event was concluded at 4:00pm yet many stayed to fly more!Respectfully Submitted, Bob Severance, CD
